We are so proud to announce that Alsama has won the 2025 Ockenden International Prize, our second major international award!

Out of 194 submissions from 56 countries, we are one of just five winners. The prize recognises our work in helping refugees and displaced people build self-reliant lives.
The judges were deeply impressed by Alsama’s impact: transforming illiterate adolescents into students, preventing child marriage, creating real job opportunities, and sustaining education through war.

The judges were deeply impressed by Alsama’s impact: transforming illiterate adolescents into students, preventing child marriage, creating real job opportunities, and sustaining education through war. They were especially struck by the fact that Alsama was built by and for refugees, within their own context and by our strong commitment to expanding education for women and girls. This award is a tribute to our students, our teachers, and our communities. We’re only just getting started.
