We have ambitious plans to franchise our educational model and eradicate illiteracy and innumeracy among refugees, while empowering a new generation to build peace in the Middle East.
We won’t rest until every young refugee has a world-class education
We’re transforming the model for refugee education through our rigorous, skills-based programme that takes displaced young people from illiterate to university-ready in just six years. And we’re just getting started – we have a bold plan to scale our impact through franchising.
Having proved our approach in Lebanon’s refugee camps, we’re now set to replicate it globally, so that more young refugees than ever can access the world-class education they deserve. What’s more, by training local teams to run each franchise, we’re creating thousands of jobs for refugees and marginalised communities too.
We are solving one of the world's most pressing problems
There is an education crisis for refugee children worldwide and conventional approaches simply aren’t working.
Displaced children
In 2024, there were 43 million displaced children worldwide, predicted to rise to 90 million by 2040.
Access secondary school
Currently, only 37% of displaced children are accessing secondary education.
Pursue higher education
Just 7% of young refugees are able to pursue higher education.

Education programme package
Our award-winning programme provides 12 years of education in just six, tailored for refugee students. With a focus on whole-child development, it covers essential subjects such as Arabic, English, Maths and IT, alongside life skills, arts, sport and personal development.
Teacher training
Alsama offers a comprehensive teacher training programme developed over four years of operational experience. Teachers are trained in objective-based lesson planning, with a focus on delivering relevant, engaging lessons to illiterate and displaced students, using methods that directly connect to their everyday lives.
Operating model
We’ve designed an operational structure for efficient, small-scale education centres (220 students) located within refugee camps. The structure is capital-light yet highly effective, with over 90% of funds directed towards student education, ensuring a cost-efficient operation that maximises impact.
Monitoring & evaluation
We provide a bespoke school management and monitoring and evaluation system, tailored to the context of refugee education. This system enables close oversight of student progress, teacher performance, and overall impact.

2024
Phase 1: Accelerator Programme
This phase focuses on developing the franchise model and building the necessary capacity for expansion.
We are refining and packaging our educational model, as well as developing systems to support our franchise partners.
2026
Phase 2: Pilot centre
We open our first pilot centre with a partner NGO, where we’ll refine and perfect our model based on real-world experience.
We will need $100,000 for this phase to ensure successful implementation.
2029
Phase 3: Expansion
By 2029, we aim to scale to 39 franchise education centres, with a focus on Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and beyond.
This phase will require $1.3 million in funding by 2026, with an expected total of $12.5 million in investments by 2029.
