I can’t wait to come back to Lebanon and see how the children have progressed.
From Daraa in Syria.
Mohammad became Alsama’s first ever cricket coach in October 2018. When the one-off cricket camp came to an end it was Mohammed who persuade Richard to make the game a regular event first in Shatila and then in Bekaa, Bourj el-Berajineh and Brumana. He proved himself a natural coach. He combines a toughness with extraordinary gentleness. When he left in December 2019 to move with his wife and five children to Italy, many of his 180 Alsama cricketers shed tears. Even now when Shatila plays Bekaa in our highly competitive matches, the team chants his name. He is much missed. Yet, Mohammad hasn’t severed his ties. He now works as a translator during the children’s zoom classes. And he loves supporting the children as they take part in international online cricket challenges.
