Alaa joined Alsama in 2020 as a student with the aim of learning English and transferring this knowledge to her kids. But soon after joining Alsama, she wanted to do more for her community and started training as a community officer. Like co-officer Aisha, she also sat an exam and gave a final interview for selection. She now gives social awareness lessons on themes such as religious tolerance, early marriage, reproductive health, culture and heritage of Syria, to students in Shatila. With her co-officer Aisha, she also delivers leadership trainings to cricket players in Beqaa.
