25th March 2022 Welcome to our new Bourj al-Barajneh Institute! In company of foreign journalists and Alsama's friends, we opened our second teenager education institute in Lebanon in Bourj al-Barajneh.

31st January 2022 Kickstarting new Alsama Cricket hubs in Beqaa 2022 for Alsama Cricket started with the opening of 2 new cricket hubs in Beqaa. Thanks to the support of MCC Foundation we now support 320 players in 8 cricket hubs across Lebanon!

18th November 2021 Shatila’s Tigers beat Bourj’s Lions The Finals of the Alsama Lebanon Cricket Championship2021 have taken place. Over the past six weeks 22 teams from the Shatila and the Bourj al Barajneh camps in Beirut and The Bekaa valley have battled it out to reach the finals.

17th November 2021 We held our 1st International Poetry Competition in Shatila We held Alsama‘s first international poetry competition. Students from our institutes in Bourj and Shatila wrote poems in English and then performed them in front of an audience with guests from Belgium, Germany, Denmark and the UK.

19th October 2021 Alsama creates innovative curriculum based on UN Sustainable Development Goals Alsama developed what we call “Collective Theme-Based Learning” (CTBL) objectives. Our CTBL Objectives are linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals such as Affordable & Clean Energy (solar powered-electricity example) and No Poverty (balanced family budget).

25th September 2021 Alsama/tech has been launched! Alsama's IT and Coding boot camp, Alsama/tech, has launched. Canadian coder Gareth James is running a three week pilot programme with 50 of our students in Shatila.

25th September 2021 How cricket teaches kids in Lebanon’s refugee camps to dream big Lebanese news channel 'Beirut Today' visited us in Shatila. They interviewed our cricket players, students, teachers and coaches, and made a beautiful 5min documentary about our work. Watch it here.

25th September 2021 Solar Panels for Alsama in the Shatila and Bourj camps Due to the current electricity crisis in Lebanon, our schools had no power over the last couple of months. So our students decided that we should go green. Global trading company Montfort made the installation of solar panels on our rooftops possible.

Then they returned in July '21, and were impressed by our students' progress.

9th June 2021 Empowerment and Cricket Galore We have opened a new teenager girls empowerment centre for 100 students in the Bourj al-Barajneh camp and a third cricket hub for 40 new players in Shatila. Thank you to the Dutch organisation Women Win and the British MCC Foundation.

19th April 2021 45 foreign volunteers give weekly zoom lessons We have 45 foreign volunteers from 19 different countries working with us. The volunteers give weekly English reading classes, English conversation classes and English poetry classes to our students via zoom.

5th March 2021 UK’S MMC Is Supporting New Alsama Cricket Hub We have opened our 6th cricket hub in Lebanon, in the middle of three tent camps in Al-Marj in the Bekaa. Many of the new cricketers are also attending our Women Win supported Empowerment Centre.

7th December 2020 First Secondary Education Institute for Refugees in Shatila In November 2020 the Alsama teenager education institute opened its doors to 180 boys and girls aged 12-24 in Shatila. It's the first secondary education institute in the camp.

24th November 2020 We have opened an Alsama Girls’ Empowerment Centre in the Bekaa After Shatila, the Girls' Empowerment Centre in al-Marj in the Bekaa valley next to the Syrian border is Alsama's 2nd centre.

29th September 2020 Alsama Shatila Students Receive UK Scholarships Three of our top students - Aseel, Hadeel and Lujain - have received scholarships to attend Bishopstrow College in the UK for the full academic year 2020/21 online. We are so proud of the girls!

4th September 2020 Our Beirut Crisis Response is Continuing Over the last 18 days the Alsama team has repaired 18 homes in the Bourj al Hamoud and Naba areas in Beirut. 11th August 2020 Our Team in Beirut is Responding to the Crisis Since last Wednesday, the Alsama team, including cricket coaches, teachers and Alsama students, have been helping Lebanese families whose homes were destroyed by the blast, clearing up debris.

28th April 2020 UK top TEFL school teaches Alsama children We are delighted to announce our collaboration with Discovery Summer, one of the top English language schools in the UK. All Alsama children are now receiving 3 hours per week of English classes.

20th April 2020 Alsama children online and receiving lessons via zoom All 210 Alsama children - in the Bekaa tents and Shatila and Bourj al-Barajneh camps - have now been connected to wifi, and are receiving cricket, yoga and creative writing lessons online.
