Excellence Fund students, Aseel and Lujain, had the opportunity to meet with one of the supporters, Melissa, to deliver their latest reports from Brummana High School (BHS). The girls shared their stories of progress in the first year- their struggles and triumphs.
It was not easy at first because it was a new environment with new teachers and peers, but then I slowly got settled into it. Everyone at Brummana is kind and helpful.
Aseel, Excellence student
Joining online from Minnesota, Melissa showed her own high school certificate to us along with some memorable items from her school days including a photo of her on graduation day in 1997.
Be as active as possible in the school community and stay focused on the wins. An occasional B grade is nothing to be discouraged about!

I felt like I was on top of the world when Melissa said she was proud of me for doing so well in Sociology, which is a new subject for me being taught in a second language (English). Yes, I did it! I did something to make people proud of me. I am so happy.
Lujain, Excellence student
Thank you Melissa for your encouraging advice and for being a part of the Excellence Fund community.
